China proposes to let Xi Jinping extend presidency beyond 2023
China's governing Communist Party has proposed removing a clause in the constitution which limits presidencies to two five-year terms. The move would allow the current President Xi Jinping to remain as leader after he is due to step down. There had been widespread speculation that Mr Xi would seek to extend his presidency beyond 2023.
If China with its almost super power status is worried about stability why is Ethiopia not concerned about its own stability and playing with fire in the name of promoting western democracy today? Ethiopia needs a strong government to pull her out of its current quagmire!
EPRDF Politics - Next, Review Each Member Organization Report!
EPRDF is running against time to conclude its Deep Tehadeso campaign. The resignation of PM Hailemariam has complicated issues but according to our source all four members have concluded their own evaluation based on the recent EPRDF resolution and guideline! The next step is for EPRDF to discuss and assess the report of each member party, debate on the content and reach final conclusion. In the end EPRDF may accept or reject some or all of the report of each party. This milestone is the most decisive phase before election matters are discussed. The rush of talking about who will be PM is pointless at this moment as the fate will be decided on the result of the evaluation and criticism. The remaining engagement is very important and the make or break of the EPRDF and the fate of the country is still in EPRDF's hand! According to all indications the current challenges will be resolved amicably despite the challenges we were told! - Aigaforum Feb 24, 2018
The Loose Ideological Patchworks of EPRDF
Samuel Estefanous 02-23-18 - A couple of years ago an EPRDF insider good friend of mine explained to me the ultimate projected fate of the Front.'It is going to dissolve in to the thin air it is gonna thin out and die a natural death.' He had said to me, and I was like,'Yougotta be kidding me! Like the river Awash?'

A Short Commentary on the Current Situation and Related Issues in Ethiopia
Getachew Mequanent Ottawa, Canada February 22, 2018 - The ongoing violent protests and communal conflict in some part of Ethiopia have been a subject of criticism on the way EPRDF is governing the country. The critics are not only opponents of EPRDF who usually take up any mishap in Ethiopian society as a cause ...
Social media from America are stoking Ethiopia's ethnic violence
The Ethiopian diaspora in the US uses social media to great effect in shaping coverage of events back home, especially the protest movement that has pummeled Ethiopia for more than two years. During that time, social media has proved itself a double-edged sword in Ethiopia: Its capable of filling a need for more information due to limited press freedom and frequent blanket shutdowns of mobile internet, but also of pushing the country toward even greater calamity
Dr Abiy Ahmed elected Chairman of OPDO
Addis Ababa, February 22, 2018 (FBC) Central Committee of the Oromo People Democratic Organization (OPDO) has elected Dr Abiy Ahmed as Chairman of the Organization.Lemma Megerssa was elected deputy Chairman of the Organization, according to information obtained from office of the Central Committee of the Organization.
If this change was made taking in to consideration the recent PM resignation, it will ensure the constitution is respected and the next PM will be nominated/elected with out undermining the constitution least! What is left is if EPRDF will respect its own bylaw and finish the deep Tehadeso in time and hold its own congress to nominate the next PM or nominate the next PM soon before the current congress term expires!
Regardless, if the next PM nomination is done by the book by the EPRDF, Dr Abiy chances are much higher now to be the next EPRDF chairman and next PM but there is no guarantee he will be! The stakes are high for any one to become the next PM and Chairperson of the EPRDF!
